Need Help Picking Out Between the 2

Ok.

I have found an Olympus D-380, for only $179 at my local K-Mart. It has like 5x digital zoom. This has 2.0 MP, and accepts SM Cards.

I also saw another camera. It is a CX-4230 Kodak Camera. 2.0 MP, 3x Optical Zoom, 2x Digital. I don't think this one supports Smart Media. This one has 16MB of Internal Memory. This one is $259.

Please help me here, I don't see too much of a difference between the two.

I wouldn't give much weight to the digital zoom on any camera. Comparing the optical zoom would be best. Olympus makes many fine cameras with optical zoom. Between the two you mentioned, I'd suggest the one with optical zoom.

Along the same lines as the previous post. I would not pay attention to the 5x digital zoom as it is not optical zoom. Your editing software would be able to do the same thing that the digital zoom on the camera could basically do.

If you can spend $250, I would recommend the Olympus D520 with 3x optical lens, 2mp. Try this web site http://www.ibuydigital.com/main.cfm?..._id=1213&com=1

According to the link provided, it's only $203 now!

What are the advantages with getting the Olympus that gibson recommended?

Advantages of Olympus D-520 over Kodak CX4230

Here's my opinion, based on Steve's reviews of these two cameras:

The pictures are sharper.
The lens is slightly faster.
There are more manual features and adjustments.
The pics at all resolutions fit computer screens exactly.
It'll fit in your pocket a little better.
