I am ready to spring for a new printer... I am mostly interested in a printer that goes no larger than 8.5x11, (8x10 max would be okay if it means better quality) but what I am most looking for:

Best print quality available today! Are there printers out there that meet or exceed prints from labs?

Is dye sub the way to go, or inkjet (or other???) Cost per print is not the issue - I will retain my old printer for mundane shots...

Longevity of prints is also important, but is back seat to initial print quality.

I don't want to spend 50,000 bucks, but I have been saving up, and I could go as high as 1200 or so...

Please help!
