Hi Peeps. I wonder- is there a camera that is no longer with us that you pine for..? Something you once had- and loved- but alas, are no more..?
For me- I absolutely adored the Canon 350D... Lovely little body, with everything in the right place..(lol).. everything just falling to hand. Ultra reliable and dependable, with great IQ and low noise... Yep- sounds like the perfect woman... ![]() What's your "old flame"...? |

Sony F717 - when it died a couple of years ago I thought the only way to match it's image quality was to go to a dSLR - none of the bridge cameras at the time seemed to be as good to me.
Also, I very much missed my Pentax ME when the film advance started to eat film. A good thing I was too sentimental to get rid of all my lenses, as I was able to continue using them when I bought the dSLR. |

My old Pentax S1a. Although I don't pine for it, it still is with me.
But if I didn't have it...I would miss it dearly. Bought new in '68. Had to buy an SLR for work in the publishing field. Told by publisher, to get either a Pentax or a Nikon SLR. Got the Pentax as it was $ 30 cheaper, than the Nikon SLR, at the time. Although my Pentax does not have a built in light meter and only goes to 1/500th of a second. Bought a new Sekonic meter for $ 10. Still have it. Still works. It's been to Europe...Britain three times...western and mid western USA, Western and parts of Eastern Canada. It has fallen, been in a car accident , frozen when out in 35 degree below zero for too long (thawed out and ok)...you name it....this camera has done it and aside from a few bruises...still clicks along. Only in a camera shop once...after the car accident...needed to get the film advance lever straightened. I probably could of done myself in a vice...but I had them look it over , while in the shop. They pronounced it ready to go after the lever was straightened. Still have it, still works, but in this age of digital, don't use it much. But, I couldn't get rid of it...too much history. G'day all
I don't 'pine' for any of my old film cameras - I went thru too many of them between the 60s & 00s when I went digital But the 1st digi I had ... a Fuji S-5000 was a magic camera that I really miss these days [the on/off button eventually failed] ... it's lens was sharp, there was no discernable noise on the image etc etc and it had all the shortcut buttons in exactly the right places The panny FZ35 I have now has some extra features above the S-5000, but it does not come close to the noise-less images of the Fuji Regards, Phil
