The tilt perspective control lenses work by tilting the front element. I am just wondering if there is such a thing as an addon for the front of the lens to do the tilt function? I know a bellows could handle it but there again you are getting into expensive gear. I am wondering if some like an addon closeup filter-lens only with an adjustable element is available.

Tilting the lens should work, however it will do strange things to the focus. Tilting the lens is standard with view cameras to put the near ground area at the bottom of an image in focus at the same time as the far mountain at the top of the image is also in focus. Much less depth of field when the normal lens is 150mm so less of an issue with a sensor smaller than 35mm.
Take a look at Ansel Adams' book "The Camera" for a very good explanation - with some of the best photos ever made as examples. |
