Default Photographing Emergency Services at night???

Any idea how I could properly photography emergency service workers at night???

My problem stems from the reflective tape on their uniforms. I have an Olympus C2100UZ and when I shoot it on auto-everything mode, the flash lights up the reflective tape, thus making the rest of the photo really dark.

Any ideas???

My Fuji 602 allows me to change the auto EV setting for auto flash. I think your cam has manual EV compensation, On my Fuji, this reduces or increases the amount of flash, effectively underexposing/overexposing the pic.

If your cam takes external flash, you can achieve the same thing by letting the flash fire on its own auto setting and adjust the cam f stop for taste!

Try the Night -shot mode if your camera has one. Works best for stuff that's not moving too much, because of slower shutter speed.
