Default PowerShot A80 vs S400

Any thoughts on which one to choose? Both appear to give great quality photos. The only "killer" for me is the red-eye on the A80 and purple-fringing, which isn't a problem on the S400. But the A80 has virtually full manual and a swivel LCD. I would prefer to not have to retouch red-eye in all my photos with software. I've also considered the G3 as well.

What's your experience using any of these cameras?

The A80 and S400 both have red eye issues. I've owned both. You will have this problem with any compact camera.

A80 has (much) more manual control, flip out LCD.

The S400 had little manual control, but is much smaller and easily fits in a shirt pocket.

Those are the two main differences in a nutshell.

If you dont want red eye, get a camera with a hot shoe and an external flash.
