I used to have a Dimage A200,but I need a DSLR for lowlight situations. I went ahead and got a D70 with a 28-200mm 3.5-5.6 lens. I want to know if my D70 is really better in lowlight than the A200. The D70 lens is 3.5-5.6 compare to 2.8-3.5 of A200.

I would say yes for 2 reasons.

1) The D70 has a minimum ISO of 200 the A200 minimum ISO is 50 I would expect that quite a bit of noise would be present if you up the A200 ISO to 200.

2) The D70 has an interchangable lens system. If you want low light perforfance you can buy a faster lens such asthe 50mmF1.4 or the 28-80 F2.8. Not cheap options but options that don't exist an a camera with a built in lens.
