I know from experience that all color print films have a problem with anything that is red. The dye layer that records red is the least sensitive layer on the film and thus detail is lost.
I have found that with my D100, I am experiencing the same los of detail on bright red objects. Is there a red sensitivity problem with CCD's that is related to the film problem or is there another reason for detail loss in red objects? Cal Rasmussen |

From what I understand, most of the filter dyes for CCD's are nothing more than ink. Over time and exposure to light, the dyesloose theirfiltering capabilities. Exposure to bright light, like the sun, hastens the degradation and can even permanently damage the filter layers.
Also, some cameras are better at recording colors than others. This could be the CCD used, lens and/or image processing by the camera. What do you mean "loss of detail"? Got a pic? |

There has been no exposure to bright light. This has been a problem since day one.
