I am using corel paint shop pro x for a trial for 30 days. Whenever I try to resize and save a photo to post I cannot do it. I get back that the size is too big. I resized it to 640 x 480. What else should I do to fix this problem? thanks for any input and advise.

You may want to reduce the PPI or DPI. 72 or 96 is usually good enough for computer viewing. Save the file under a different name!

You can also reduce color depth. 256 is usually adequate for computer viewing, but this would be my last resort.

i dont know about paintshop pro x but in photoshop there is an option on the "save as" to save for web. this reduces the filesize dramatically.

If you resized it to 640 X 480 and saved it as a JPG it is small enough for most boards even at maximum quality/minimum compression. Steve allows 250k and a 640 X 480 JPG is always smaller than that. If you are posting on another board with a lower size limit use a lower quality for the JPG.

A 640 X 480 image is exactly the same size whether you use 72PPI or 300 PPI.

You say its a 30 day trial version?

One reason you may not be able to save could be that Corel doesn't allow saving in the trial version.

When your 30 day trial is up, here's a site where you can download Paint Shop Pro 7.0 and upgrade to 7.04 that somebody posted here before:

Good Luck!
