Default Resolution

Got a fabulous new S400 for Xmas and have a million questions. but just one for now.

I understand that if I shoot at one resolution, say 1600 x 1200, the resulting prints will be about 6 x 4 and cannot be enlarged without degradation. But, if I shoot at 2272 x1704, can the prints be reduced with no loss of picture quality?

You're basically right!

If you need some info on printsizes, why not take a look at my website. You'll even find a print-calculator there!

I encourage you to look at Klaus site. You need to develop the habit of saving your originals in a different folder than your working folder. Once you start editing jpeg photos you will lose quality each time you save them. I prefer to place my original photos on cd and work on them from the cd. This forces me to save the picture to another folder on my hard drive.
