Hello! I'm so pleased to have found you and that your forum is active.
I live in West Texas and have a roll-off in the backyard that hold a couple of scopes, the main instrument being my 200mm Newton f/4. I also have a 12.5 f/8 Meade equatorial but it is in storage at the moment. It's simply a monster to handle. Anyway, I have coming RIGHT NOW from adorama, a Kalimar K-90 (Pentax K-1000 equal) along with T-mount adapter and T-mount. Yes, I'm venturing into astrophotography! I'm starting from SCRATCH and I'm so hopeful i'll be able to get some tips as I go along this new road. I'm VERY excited to finally be taking this step in my amateur astronomy hobby. Anyway! I'll be checking in and doing alot of rerading in the meantime! |

Its good to have you here.
Astro photography is very neat. I go up into the wilds of north maine every year and the sky is stunning up there. So little light polution (and not as much air polution either) produces skys that blow my mind every night. I'd be interested in learning a bit about astrophotography if you get the time to post some info. Eric |

Well, no kidding, I'm starting from scratch. I've been an amateur astro buff solid for 5 years and love it. course, always inspired by the photos I see and finally decided to make the jump.
I suppose I should do the digital imaging route but I want to learn that later after I have some experience the old fashioned way. I've seen some stunning film astrophotography. Anyway, I'm just trying to expand my horizions as we all are here i'm sure. later! I get that camera in the mail NEXT tuesday! |

I have the K-1000 (and the Canon 20D.) The K-1000 was a nice camera in its day. Took it all over and it took a beating.
Good luck with the new hobby. Eric |
