You will be able to save 12 pics at the maximum resolution in Fine mode, and 23 in Normal mode. I recommend you pick up at least a 256 MB Memory Stick...that will give you 94 pic storage in the high/Fine mode, and 182 in high/Normal..

o thanx much, also wud 128 mbbe ok? and is it nesessary to use fine/high? does it make a bigdifference from normal/ high?

Any size you buy would be OK with me...I only suggested the 256 card, because I felt that would give you a fair amount of storage. A 128 MB card will give you half the number of pics (roughly) that a 256 will. It's not necessary to use the Fine setting for your pics, and you probably wouldn't know the difference by comparing a pic shot at Fine vs. Normal. The difference would be noticeable if you tried to make large prints from your pics...the Normal mode would not look as good as the Fine pic when really blown up. Some people say to always use the highest setting possible, because you never know when you will get that once-in-a-lifetime shot that you will want to blow up to poster size, and some just use a lower setting and get lots of pics on their memory card.

Prior to getting in to digital photography, 36 exposures used to last me awhile. Now, it's quite common for me to go out and take 180 pics of wildllife (or whatever) in a couple of hours.

Good luck with your new camera.
