Received my Sony P92 5mp from Dell, had it for less than a week and under 50 shots. Yesterday, the flash won't charge up, orange light kept blinking and finaly flashed the E:91:01 malfunction code - Flash not working. Try reset a couple of times to no avail.
I also have the sony PC9 camcorder and never experienced a glitch. I am shipping my P92 back tomorrow. Anyone else experience this kind of problem? Can I trust another P92 to work? |

That just sounds like a defective flash, connection, or other failure in the camera and I would guess it is just one of those rare failures due to defect.
At least it failed really fast and didn't fail a few months or so down the road when your warranty was close to expiring. |

Are your batteries fully charged? You're not using alkalines, are you?
Anyway, this is a common error message among Sony cameras that have problems with the flash...it's something you can't repair yourself though. A replacement camera should be fine. Try typing e:91:01 into Google.com and you'll see a few people had that problem, with various Sony digital cameras. |

I am glad that it did happen early enough to be able to return it for a refund and I was using NiHi batteries. It just freaked me out when it malfunctioned at the worst possible time right when I was showing it to my brother-in-law!
