steves photo competition
Does anyone else feel that steves is biased toward photos with american content? I seem to have seen quite a few posted as having been picked that have this theme, that really are not good photos except for a US icon somewhere in it. I am not against the US icons, and this is NOT A POLITICAL QUESTION, but rather a "photographic content" one

Nope ..... and i'll complain about anything.

I reviewed the last years Photo of the Day and could not see a flavor of bias towards American content. July was a heavy month of what I would say was American content. That would be our nations birthday month. Nov 2002, Oct 2002, and Sep 2002 seem to have more forgein (opposed to American) content. It might be possible that more American photos are submitted for entry.

Personally I don't care what the content's point of origin is as long as it's a good picture - subject, composition, color, focus, etc.

And yes, there are a lot more American photos submitted than "foreign" photos because we have more U.S. readers.

In a word, "No."
In all facets of his board, I have noted him bending over backwards to avoid even the suggestion of bias. As one of the oldest members of his new board, I can say that you are the first I can recall that even remotely suggested it.
