Over this side of the pond we have the Eurovision Song Contest and as yesterday I was recently inspired by a comment in this thread http://forums.steves-digicams.com/ge...aphy-over.html (see posts 10 and 11) to write a song, and then was challenged to record it, I thought, possibly we have other people with a little musical skill (very little in my case) who were keen to re write the lyrics of a song with a photographic content.
If you are really brave then please do post a video of you (or someone else you know) singing/playing this new song. If you can't sing it then just post a link to you tube so we can hear the original and put your words to it in our heads. OK, I hope you are sitting comfortably, ear plugs in, ready for a laugh. This is my and the Steve's version of We've Only Just Begun. I will start making excuses now, the only score I could find was in a key too low for me........ planning to think of more excuses as we go along. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGVl9...layer_embedded For anyone not sure of the lyrics that I'm trying to sing here they are. We've only just begun to shoot, White balance and RAW capture A kiss from Canon and we're on our way. We've only begun. Before the CCD was film, So many brands to choose We start our shooting and learn to frame. And yes, We've just begun. Sharing the landscapes that are new to us, Photographing wildlife along the way, Talking it over with my friends at Steve's, Struggling together with LBA Together. Now we have our smile detection, Much photography lies ahead We'll find a place where there's room to shoot, And yes, We've just begun. Sharing landscapes that are new to us, Photographing wildlife along the way, Talking it over with my friends at Steve's, Struggling together with LBA Together, Together. And when the new lens comes we smile Much photography lies ahead We'll find a place where there's room to shoot And yes! We've just begun For those not in the know, LBA is lens buying addiction, something a lot of dSLR photographers suffer and Kiss is the Japanese name for the 350D, 400D, 450D, 500D etc series of Canon dSLRs. I hope after this you will still respect my photography if nothing else! Come on people, let's get creative, it doesn't have to be great (I've proved that) but put pen to paper, or finger to keyboard and get writing.

that was awesome Mark. I think that song should play looped in the background of Steve's main page

I'm glad people are enjoying this, however I notice that no one has yet been brave enough to say they will write new lyrics, let alone anyone to record them...... hoping later things will change

Something I wrote a few years ago -- techno-funk:
KAMERA-WERK She sketched his form with her camera Drawing lines with lights and shadows and colors Shaded his outlines with hazy perspectives Focussed his heart in her lens Focussed his heart in her lens Focussed his heart in her lens She changed his fate with her strobe-lights Filling-in dark spots, sculpting the edges Filtered his future with polarized care Flattened his eyes in her lens Flattened his eyes in her lens Flattened his eyes in her lens She sucked-up his soul with her camera Imprisoned his spirit 'tween fat mega-pickles After separating ego, superego and id Flash-fried his brain in her lens Flash-fried his brain in her lens Flash-fried his brain in her lens (c) and all rights reserved and all like that [not that anyone would want to steal this]

I wrote this short poem last year.
Photographer “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” The old bard points to reasons I should not But on that summer’s day with flowers sweet I find you and your camera hard at play Each tender petal and subtle hue of Green Each vibrant Red and Blue and all between Captured in RGB and JPG Acronyms for beauty stored within I watch as you immortalize your garden Painting with no brush nor paint But electronic canvass and paper print Sharing that summer’s day with all who look.
