Nice work, Zig. Now... just so we're clear, those shots at 300mm on your four-thirds E-510 would mean a 600mm equivalent on a full-frame camera, correct?

yep. Sometimes one of the benefits of the fourthirds system is the 2x factor.. Also, FWIW, the Oly 70-300mm lens is actually a Sigma lens which is noted for being fairly sharp in the center but softens up on the outer perimeter of the lens.
In the case of the 70-300 being used on a slightly smaller sensor i.e. four thirds, the sensor is really only taking the image off the center of the lens.
