Is there any difference in Step-up ring quality? I need a 62mm > 72mm ring and don't know if I should spend twice as much on a Nikon ring.

Adorama Step-Up Adapter Ring 62mm Lens to 72mm Filter Size ($9.95): http://www.adorama.com/FLU6272.html

Nikon UR-1 Filter Adapter Ring 62-72mm ($19.95): http://www.adorama.com/NKUR1.html?se...&item_no=1

I plan to use this with my Coolpix 4300 (via the UR-E4 Adapter which brings thread size from 28mm to 62mm). The step up ring will step me up to 72mm. Thus, I plan to buy the "Tiffen 72mm Photo Essentials Filter Kit " for $119.95: http://www.adorama.com/FLK72.html

All this to basically feel assured that I will not get vignetting with the filters. Plus my WC-E63 Wide angle lens also uses 72mm.Does 72mm filter sizes seem likea good choice for my application(s)????

BTW, I thought these were some pretty good Nikon reference pages:

Lens Compatibility per : http://www.nikon.com.sg/PRODUCT/COOLPIX_Acc.htm

There are some rings that are made out of plastic, and they are to be avoided. Otherwise I've never looked to see who makes the ring, especially if it is an odd size, just make sure it IS the right size.

However, if it's something like a filter tube adapter, you not only have to worry about diameters, but also the length.
