Where can I find out information about the latest sensors and ones that are just in development? BTW, I have heard that Sony makes most of the sensors, do they make ALL of the sensors used in P&S cameras?

Sony supply many cameras with sensors
Kodak are supplying four thirds sensors
there is a rumoured Sharp Corp sensor around
Panasonic make their own sensors under Matsushita
Fuji have made a terrific breakthrough with the 1/1.7" sensor that has wonderful iso performance. the sensor can be had in the Fuji F30 (and series cameras)

if this technology migrates to other cameras its going to get interesting
as noise is the major mitigating factor against small sensors

Its amazing to see how far they have come in the past 5-6 years. I have heard alot of good things about the new Fuji CCDs. Maybe technological advances will soon completely overcome the low-light problems with current small form-factor sensors.

which creates 2 possibilities
P&S with greater capability, perhaps something like a 50% scale dSLR wit fixed superzoom. miniturisation really rocked the phone market

and even greater resolution larger sensors
