I have problems with my OSX10.4.2 disk. I cannot unmount disk to run Disk Utility (I get message "cannot unmount disk" - Can anyone help please. Thank you.

I don't use 10.4, however you cannot repair the disk that you are running disk utility from, or booted from. You can only check the disk.
In order to repair one disk, you must run the utility from another - indeed, boot from another. If you only have one drive, then you must boot from the CD that came with the computer or the upgrade to Tiger. Hopefully I understood your problem :lol: Dave |

Thanks for your reply. I did boot from the installer disk and ran DU from there and still get message that disk cannot be unmounted. Louise Parrish |

Check the permissions for your drive. They are locked, unlock them and reset them.
