The company for which I work is wanting to purchase a digital video to record live presentations. By doing so, the presentations can be made available to others.
I put together a business case around the acquisition of a digicam with firewire. The IT Director now wants to know why Firewire and not USB 2.0. I am not aware of any manufacturers that offer USB 2.0 on their units as a means to transfer digital video. I have seen a few digicams that have the ability to take stills and transfer via USB, but not video. Can anyone confirm my information or point me to where I can find out more. Thanks, JAG |

IEEE 1394, FireWire or Sony iLink -- all the same, is the current standard for data I/O in video camcorders. USB 2.0 may be used by some future products but right now it is strictly FireWire territory.
