So, I buy a used lens from KEH (great retailer) and now I need a new UV filter. I go on line at B&H and I'm overwhelmed by the choices. My lens is a 62 mm 18-250 mm. Can someone simplify my choice?

Very interesting. When you search filters, it doesn't seem to matter which size you click; you get all af them. However, if you go to a camera page under lens accessories (works this way on the Pentax page anyway), and click filters, then click the size, you get the correct index. (77 filters listed, rather than the 451 the other way). That should narrow it down some.

It worked for me. There are sixty-three 62mm UV, Clear & Skylight Filters at B&H.
Whatever filter you get, it will degrade image quality somewhat, so get a good one. I'd also go with a Slim Filter to prevent vignetting beyond what you're already getting.

get a good one, B+W MRC, Hoya super mc, Tiffen HT. Go with a high grade multi coated, the you get what you pay for.

How much did you pay for the lens? IMHO it makes no sense to pay more than something like a quarter of that for a filter. And a really cheap filter combined with a cheap lens is a recipe for distortion.

I always use top quality filters. My view is that there is no sense in using a cheap piece of glass, over that expensive lens. My choice....B+W...either clear or UV.

We haven't had a UV filter thread for a couple of months.
Not everyone uses filters. I don't. |

Neither do I. I have a B+W 0.6 ND filter on my Tokina 100-300/4, but that's it.
