could someone please explaine what is the e18 error?

i'm thinking of buying the canon a610 in the future... and i saw many posts about this error in canon cameras...

so can you explaine what is it?

Using "e18 error message", do a search in the Canon forum here and on the various search engines such as Google. You'll turn up numerous examples of the problem. It happened with various Canon models. As far as I know, Canon has never admitted the problem. I'm unaware if it's been corrected in the newer models.

It means the lens is stuck - it won't retract, usually because something gets in between the moving segments of the lens barrel and jams it. I'm not aware of any recalls by Canon, so if this happens after your warranty runs out, you have an expensive paperweight.
