Could someone please look at this photo and tell me what I did wrong. It was taken with a fuji S5000. It was just after 3 PM in the afternoon. The camera was on auto and the sun was at my back. I have never had it do this before.

Scrappy:
There is no sure way to know what happened based on looking at the photo alone. Theimage is very overexposed. Unfortunately, the forum software will strip out the EXIF header in the image files that lets you see what camera settings were used. Many image editors will also strip out this information. The EXIFwould give us a clue as to what the camera did (most likely a slower shutter speed and/or larger aperture was used). However, it may or may not tell us why. If you have an image editor that can read it, you can see the camera settings used. If not, download Irfanview from http://www.irfanview.com (it's free). Make sure to download the free plugins, too. You can then see this information under "Image", "Information", "EXIF". It will allow you to copy it into your clipboard so you can past it into a forum post. Make sure to look at the original image file (in case your editor stripped out the EXIF when you downsized it). |

Don't know if it was you...the ISO is way off scale at 5,888...the maximum ISO for that camera is supposed to be 800! Suggest you hit the Fuji forum here and ask them...maybe you have a buggy camera, or it just needs a reset.

The interpretation of the EXIF on this site appears to leave a lot to be desired. It shows the ISO speed as 5888 (not an available ISO speed on your model).
I'd suggest like Irfanview (that I mentioned above), and look at the Original Image (not a downsized version). When downsizing an image, almost all editors strip out the "Maker Notes" section. This section can sometimes give you a clue as to what the camera did (metering modes, etc.). Chances are, the shutter speed the camera used wasthe reason it's overexposed (1/60 second at f/6.3), but we don't know why. What was the lighting like when you took it? |

This is a photo taken just moments before that one was taken.

I have several photos here
http://www.bytephoto.com/photopost/s...hp?ppuser=2667 They all have different ISO numbers. You just click on the photo to see the Exif data on them. I would really appreciate it if you would take a look and see if the rest look ok or are they off to. Thanks Scrappy |
