Hi All,
I was just wondering what's better - 1/2.5 " or 1/1.8" Sensor Size? Sorry I don't know the difference. Regards, Atma-Rising. |

atma,
though a number of factors influence the image quality of a sensor, as a general rule, the bigger, the better. the more "space" each pixel has to capture light hitting it, the less it'll be influenced by the light hitting the pixels around it; hence, clearer images with lower noise. that means a sensor that's 1/1.8" (14,1mm), being bigger than one that's 1/2.5" (10,2mm), should be better. there's a number of other technical aspects that are related to the size of the sensor, such as focal lenght... but I'll limit this answer to what you asked. ![]() oh, and... us/uk, switch to metric system already! ![]() |
