Hi Guys:

Is there a way to know how many photos have been taken when buying a used DSLR - Canon D 20 in this case. Many thanks.

Canon probably has service software that can report the number of actuations. But, I don't know of a way that a user can tell.

Some of the Nikon DSLR models keep the number of actuations in the "Maker Notes" section of the EXIF (a header in image files), and at least one EXIF viewer (IExif ) can read it if it's there.

But, I'm not aware of anything that can tell you the number of actuations for other brands right now.
