hi, im wondering if taking a picture or a bright light (sun spot, or a flash reflection from a mirror) damage the lens on a digital camera. Thanks

I have a canon sd300. I left the flash on when i took a picture of myself in a mirror. Would the bright flash damage the camera in any ways. Thanks

I doubt that it wouldbut if you are looking through the viewfinder, it might probably damage your eyes.

Your flash no, the sun possibly especially with a longish focal length.

Think sun, magnifying glass, toy plastic soldiers/ants/paper, (Ok so I was a rotten kid once upon a time). Sun and a longish lens will do bad things you your eyes and possibly cook the insides of a camera where the light focuses.

Peter.
