does anyone know of any non-SLR digicams with bodies that are mostly metal, not plastic?* I ask because I dropped my plastic bodied Canon and it cracked the case where the batteries are kept.* I now keep the batteries inside* with a rubber band, and sometimes that doesn't work very well.* Thanks.

Your asking the wrong question. "Which camera can I drop down a flight of concrete steps?" and "Which camera is made of flubber?" are not the same.

I doubt there are many cameras that can take a good drop. The bigger ones sometimes have a metal chassis but they are also heavier and generate more force when you drop them.
