What are you expecting in video modes...if you're expecting the same level as a camcorder, either in quality or length, suggest you look at a camcorder, or a digital-camcorder for that.

Digicams are great for still pictures but take mediocre movies, while video cameras take great movies and (if they have a still picture mode) take low-res pictures.

imho THE "PURISTS" GET A LITTLE ANTSY ABOUT MOVIE MODE BUT IT IS CERTAINLY A FEATURE I LOVE. Sorry not shouting.

In saying that, be careful, if movies is your chief concern then you need a video camera not a digicam. Dtill lean towards what the camera does re. still shots and THEN start comparing movie modes.

Default To actually answer your question.....

Cameras that can record in 640 x 480, with as many frames per sec as possible.
Also, watch for how long you can record, some cameras will only give you 10 seconds.
The specs on the soon to be released Fuji F700 tout a 640 x 480 at 30 FPS and unlimited duration (up to the limit of your memory card). It also advertises a new more advanced format, though I do not know the specifics.
But based on specs alone, the Fuji should take the crown when it is released in a month or 2. Any body seen anything better?

what about the Canon A70? going by the movie in the review on this site (and other's I've seen) it looks pretty good, even though they say it's only 15fps it looks faster than that going by the crashing waves, it can also make movies as big as the card
