I had my first SLR when I was 14, a Pentax K1000. It had a light meter built in, but everything else was manual. It was a lot of fun.

But that was years ago and I've only come back to photography because of all my hiking and interesting things I see.

And my previous statement wasn't that I took offence at all. I could easily have missed a 55- catagory myself. Its just something I've noticed about people... they really don't think about people of a certain amount older then themselves. I know I do it. My parents might be in their late 60's, but I hardly interact with anyone over 80, let alone think about one.

I can't agree more. If they could introduce a simpler product, I bet it would sell.

I'd love to not have to correct my photos. I like taking them, and I really like being outdoors enjoying myself while I do it. I might like playing on computers, but editing is more like work than play. If I had a camera of the quality I have (Canon 10D) but it didn't have to edit the results so much, I'd be in heaven. I hope to get better at it and not worry over it... but right now it's a chore.

I see the typical photographer as being a middle-aged to older male.

For that reason, there not being an over 55 age category surprised me slightly.

I guess I'm behind all of you then since i got my first slr when I was 16, in fact it was only a few months ago. The oly om-10 slr. But really, what does age matter, My mom could technically be considered an amatuer photographer as she likes to take a ton of pictures and I know more about her camera than she does. In fact, I know more about digital cameras than my journalism teacher who knows photoshop front and back.

57

so I voted in the 46-55 group.

All my younger colleagues at work ask me about digital
cameras, as I promote the image of a sad photo-tech nerd.

21 - And I just realised that apart from some fiddling with an old Minolta(maybe?) 35mm.. I've only ever used Kodak cameras... maybe i'm missing out on something...

damn..

{edit}
Damnit.. i'm 22 now.. I turned 22 5 days ago.. you'd think it would've sunk in by now...
