I will soon be shooting a stage performance and want to know any suggestions for settings on white balance since the lights will be changing and spot lights too.

I would like to be able to get some good results. Any help would be great.

Flash is out so you have to use available light.

White balance suggestion #1 - Shoot in RAW mode and fix the white balance in post processing.

White balance suggestion #2 - If you prefer JPEGs take a custom white balance for each shot if you have the time.

White balance suggestion #3 - If you prefer JPEGs take a custom white balance for the major scenes and try and try and fix the white balance in post processing.

Shooting suggestion - You will have to use a lens with a very large aperture like f/2.8 or better, crank up the ISO as much as possible so you can get decent shutter speeds and use a tripod or monopod to cut down on camera shake. Image stabilization will help with camera shake as well but won't do a thing for subject motion nor will the tripod/monopod. Only decent shutter speeds will help with subject motion.

I would either shoot RAW mode with auto white balance. Or if you are going to shoot jpeg I would for sure use auto white balance. I doubt you will have time toset acustom white balance for each lighting condition and would proably miss quite a few shots changing it. The auto white balanceshould give you pretty good results most of the time.
