Default digital cam for elderly first time user

Hi All,

I have an eighty one year old mother who runs a business and needs a digital camera. It needs to be point and shoot and easy to use. She has left it up to me and I would love some suggestions. pictures are for posting on the internet and would be of real estate mostly. I'm considering the canon a300. What do you think?

The a300 is a great point and shoot and will be take good photos. Its only drawback is no zoom. If this is not an issue, however, go for it.

Taking pictures indoors (you said real estate, so could be...) can be difficult because of the available light. The human eye can adjust and work in low light better than a camera can. You might consider getting a table top tripod as well. They are very small and light, so they are easy to carry. But you can then set one up on a table or counter and get a good shot of a room.

Also, for pictures of real estate, you will want a wide angle lens.

The suggested Canon Powershot A300 has an ok lens at 33mm, but you might want something even wider (I think below 28mm is the point where distortion starts to become a problem.)

It also has a decent minimum f-stop, at 3.6.
