Default Camera doesnt work in Canada

Sony Mavica CD400 :

The camera works fine in the United States, and is recognized by a laptop and desktop using windows xp home edition. The cd itself is also recognized in the United States.

But, when the camera/ cd is brought to Canada it fails to work at all. The camera is not recognized by the computer, nor is the cd recognized by the cd drive.

Any one care to tell me why? And how i can fix it?

The camera is required by law to be bi-lingual in Canada

Nothing to do with being in Canada, eh!

Probably just a driver missing from the computer you're trying to use it with, maybe the USB has never been used with the computer you're trying to connect to so there's no USB driver installed...we'd only be guessing here, there's so many possibilities.

If it were the same camera, pc and mains voltage - I'd say we were looking at some ET phenomena, but since the computer is not the same as the one in USA, it seems the most likely culprit. I suppose there's a slight chance the camera could have broken, or the lead got damaged on the journey?

weird indeed. btw the camera works fine when it goes back to america. the problem persists in canada only. perhaps its the systems here? dvd players and computers in the us run fine with it, but ditto in canada.

It's just the particular Canadian computer you're trying to use it with is not configured properly. If there was a problem with this we would have heard it a LONG time ago. Canadian computers have the same hardware from the same sources as their US counterparts. And many times US computers have Canadian components in them, like ATI and Matrox!
