Have just ordered the nikon d80..comes with a 512 sd memory card...do these come in different speeds and would my lexar compact flash cards work with the d80

Before you get any advice, I recommend you go to Nikon.com and check out which memory card is best for your camera. I also recommend you get yourself a 1GB card, it is well worth the price.

Your CF card will not work...the D80 only uses the smaller SD cards. Also, 512mb is not all that big...it will only hold about 45-50 RAW images. If you only shoot jpeg, you may be alright, but a 1gb card is definitely a worthwhile investment. I've used a regular speed PNY card in the D80 with no real issues. Unless you do alot of continous shooting, you probably won't need the extra speed, although its nice to have just in case, and for transfering pics to the computer.

i just noticed at the top of this site a sandisk 2gb secure digital disc for 25.00..is that the real thing or a knock off?

It is a worthy question if someone's not sure: I'd trust a recommendation from you, but have no idea what level of control - if any - you have over the ad banners. You might approve them all personally or they might be entirely handled by a third party who has no screening process beyond requiring the dollars up front, whilst you pay little attention to them unless someone complains.
