Hi all,

Santa just brought a Canon Powershot A540 and in reading the manual I have 2 options for a flach setting that sound identical to me. Can anyone explain the difference please??

1. Auto flash w/Red Eye Reduction ("Flash fires automatically and fires the red eye reduction lamp each time")or

2. Flash on with Red Eye Reduction ("The red eye reduction lamp and flash always fire").

Thanks!

Sounds like both of those have red-eye reduction, but one always fires the flash and the other only fires if it thinks more light is needed. But since those instrucitons could have been written in Hindi, translated to Urdu and thus to Japanese before the English (UK/American/Indian/... dialect?) was printed, I wouldn't count on being right about that.

Experiment and you will likely figure it out. Just fire it off with different settings paying attention to how the flash is behaving.
