i have been looking around the net for the best deals on a canon digital rebel xt kit. some examples of the best prices i have seen are from bananna boat camera, broadway camera. they offer the kit form a high $400 to mid $500. when i checked them out by including a 'scam' on a google search, numerous results were found, stating that most of these places are scams. they insist that you buy some extra stuff with the kit and tack on hundreds more to the final price. if you say that you dont want any of them, they say that the kit is out of stock and charges your cc.

being paranoid i even checked out adorama and b&h with the word 'scam'. there were some minor results with adorama but in the end they did ok.

im really excited to get my 1st dslr. brick and mortar stores such as best buy, ritz wolf offer the kit for $699. the 'better' online stores such as adorama and b&h offer the kit a hundred less, $599.

-is adorama a good online store? any of you have delt with them?

-what is the best price you have seen for the canon 350d? where did you find them?

thank you

I've bought several items from B&H and have excellent results. B&H is also a brick and mortar store in New York. I haven't use Adorama, but have heard nothing but good things about them too. B&H may not always be the best price, but they have my trust and I won't hesitate to buy other equipment from them.

There are lots of scams out there. Make sure you check resellerratings.com for store ratings.

In general, if prices are much better than B&H, Adorama, BuyDig/BeachCamera, then it's probably a scam.

You can also checkout Cameta on eBay for packages:

Just be sure you're getting new if you're not interested on refurbs.

I've used both B&H and Adorama & both give excellent service. I do tend to price-shop them & have found Adorama to be better about 75% of the time....YMMV.

Adorama and B&H are both good places. I'd add Beach Camera and Buydig (the same parent company) to the list. I've purchased from Beach several times, as from Adorama and B&H, and I've not had any problems with any of them.

Always check www.resellerratings.com and look for long-term ratings (short term high marks can also be scammed).

I use B&H (first choice)and Adorama almost exclusively. Good selection of after-the-sale accessories at both. Not always the lowest price but a fair price. The keys are reliability and service. B&Horder tracking is top-notch and in years of dealing with themI've never had a lost, damaged, defective or "bait-and-switched" item. Web site is easy to navigate, too.

All I will say is stay away from bestpricecameras.com

I live in N.Y. and there is not a bigger camera store than BH Photo and Adorama both highly recommended.
