Default What of these two is best?

Time to upgrade...I love long shots...both cams are within $20 of each other...Panasonic dmc-fz1 is 12x but only 2 pix, Toshiba pdr-m700 is 3.2 pixel, but only 10x, so, for a releative newbee...what is the better way to go....I know 3.2 pixel is better, but hard to give up the extra 2x, or 70 mm...Greatful for any help...

Thanks

Well, the nice thing about the FZ1 is that it has image stabilization which helps prevents camera shake (especially good at long zooms).

The FZ1 doesn't have any manual features (plenty of automatic options though, Simple, Record, Macro, Portrait, Sports, Panning, Night Portrait).

The Toshiba has manual features like shutter priority, aperture priority, and manual in addition to automatic ones.

I suggest the fz1. Though i don't like the lack of manual, the image stabilization is extremely useful and, in my opinion, worth the loss in resolution. In the end the choice is yours, however, so I'd suggest that you a: try each camera to see which one you like better and b: decide whether the extra zoom and image stabilization is worth the loss of manual and resolution.

OK...so is there anyone that makes a 3 pix camera WITH a stabilization system and a 10x in the $500 range?

Thanks

The closest digicam that's been produced so far that is closest to the criteria you specified is the Canon Pro90IS, which is 2.6MP. I doubt you will be able to find one on eBay for $500, but you are welcome to try.
