i have a project coming up where i need to flim various rooms while they are being built from the ground up for the next 6 to 12 months. "still" photos; yeshowever i would prefer video. here is the catch that most "construction cameras" can not provide. i prefer 3mp 2048x1536 resolution that i can pull and minipulate to my own liking. is there a still cam that i can plug n play into my laptop w/ software that has these capabilities? any info would be great.

O.K. is there issues with shutter malfunction or "break Down". if so i could purchase several cameras in the event one broke down. i would be under certain pressure from several people in the event there was a major malfunction. have u used this software before?

My concern with your project is "various rooms". This will require multiple camerasachieve 5 to 15 min intervals. If you use notebook computers for control probably multiple notebook computers tounless virtual machines are set up on a single notebook. It might be better to use camera(s) with an internal intervalometer. Apparently the Canon Powershot series have that capability. For that info and much more about time lapse photography check the site below:

Don't forget you will also have a security issue preventing the equipment from walking off when unattended.
