I hope I am in the correct forum for this question.

Is there a hazard or a problem with store picture folder from my pictures on a flash drive.
I have been doing this as the capacity is larger than a CD and the flash or thumb drive is so much more convienient.
I welcome your comments.

Three things come immediately to mind:

First, flash drives are used for storing more than just photos and are used interactively, so the chance that you could accidently delete photos is high.

Second, flash memory can only be written to a finite number of times. WHile the number is quite large, if you do a lot of writing and rewriting of photos to a flash drive, you could reach it.

Third, unlike flash drives, CD-Rs can't ever be erased. If you store your photos on CD-Rs, you'll always have them.

Thanks for the info TCav. I have a couple of 2gb flash drives that I have dedicated to pictures only.
Your suggestion about using the CD-R though is valid.

Thanks for the info.

'a couple of 2GB flash drives' - why not just burn to a single DVD-R.

However, DVD or CD burning or not, I would also suggest either making duplicates or ALSO using a DEDICATED hard drive for photo storage.
