This is probably a dumb question (and possibly in the wrong place, if it is, feel free to move it) but I'm a recycling junkie.

Is it possible to recycle old cameras you don't use any more (and the Smart Media cards that go with them)? If it is possible, does anyone have any idea how to do it?

Good question, actually. I would look for computer recyclers in your area first. I know Epson has a recycling program for its printers, and I think it applies to other hardware as well, so probably Epson cameras can.

I would guess that facilities that repair cameras could also serve as recycling centers. Would be useful as a source of spare parts as well as providing a service.

Thanks for that VT Photog. You're right most big companies do see to recycle their old electronics. If anyone wants to feel they're doing their bit for charity at the same time, http://www.recycleforbreastcancer.org will send you a pre-paidmail in label that'll allow you to send all your smallish electronics to them, postage free.

I can't tell you anything about the charity (other than what's on the website), but they sent me the label inside 24hrs.

You might also try Salvation Army stores or Volunteers of America.
