Are you sure you're using the right URL?

http://forums.steves-digicams.com

Or, select the Forums menu choice from the main menu at http://www.steves-digicams.com

The main URL to the forums changed a while back. It used to be http://www.stevesforums.com (which is not yet disabled but is no longer the correct URL). So, don't use it anymore.

I'm unaware of any issues like you're describing.

We had some problems with the software after moving to a new host causing some MySQL errors due to tables being locked after certain queries, which was causing browsers to hang after posting.

But, software patches were made on July 30th to fix that problem, and AFAIK, it has not reoccured since then. If you try to use the old URL, that will also cause problems.

I'm in the forums much of the day, every day, running from Savannah, GA over Comcast, and I've seen no issues like you're describing, using either Windows XP or Linux. I'm running in Firefox under both (I don't use IE unless no other choice exists for a site I need to access). But, that shouldn't be an issue here (and the software is actually better optimized for IE).

Have you tried simple fixes like clearing your browser's cache to see if that may have something to do with it (a corrupted cache can sometimes cause odd problems):

I don't know what could be the issue then. If it reoccurs, send me a note about it. I'll give you an e-mail address to use via PM.

Hello, my normal screenname is planters49. I can't seem to log in to the boards using my name. I've cleared my cookies, and reset the cookie used by this board.

When I put in my username and password and click login, the page changes to the main forum page, but still says that I'm not loged in.

I created another usename just to post this message. Any ideas?

Well.... yours is the second complaint I've seen today. So, I hope that we don't have a problem.

AFAIK, nothing with the forums has changed recently.

Are you sure you're using the correct URL?

http://forums.steves-digicams.com

You will get the symptoms you're describing if you try to use the old url at http://www.stevesforums.com (which is no longer valid, although it hasn't been taken offline yet).

We changed to a new URL a while back. Are you going to the new one?

http://forums.steves-digicams.com

P.S.

I just merged this thread with another one where someone was reporting a similar issue, in case they are related.

I can't seem to duplicate a problem (for example, your new member name ceasing to work, too).

I can create a new member name, activate it, and it works fine.

I can log it out and back in, and it works fine.

I can change back to my normal member name, and it works fine.

From all outward appearances, the table associated with the member names is fine.

We have not made any changes to the forums software since July 30th when a patch was installed.

What ISP are you using, in case that's something in common with the issue?
