Default Spam and Photobucket?

My Yahoo account has been inundated with hundreds of spam in the last 24 hours. It may be a coincidence, but the only place I've given my email address to recently, other than this forum, has been with Photobucket. Has anyone else noticed a major problem with spam after registering with them?

Have you asked Photobucket what they do with your personal data?

Weird, I too have been hit with a lot of spam recently. Yesterday I got about 50, it sucked. I haven't signed up for Photobucket though, so I don't think that's your problem. Probably just some loser with a program that searches the internet for emails to spam.

Looks like I got spammed by the '[email protected]' worm. Check this page for details: http://[email protected]

I've gotten no more than usual after signing on to Photobucket...actually I've gotten less recently (must be due to summer time ).

Default It may not be Photobucket

The latest internet worm running around may be at fault.

Do the messages all seem to be from email servers bouncing some mysterious email that apparently you sent but didn't actually send? If so, that's probably the latest worm. Someone with your email address in their addressbook got hit. It's possible that Photobucket and/or Steve got hit.

If it's your run of the mill "Enlarge Your Viagra"/"Free Hot Lesbian Mortgages" spam, then someone may have sold your email address. I don't think it was Steve's in that case.

Yeah that worm is driving me nuts. Im not infected from what Stinger and Norton are saying, but I keep getting emails back from the maildaemon or otherwise stating that an email that I had sent was infected with that virus. But anyways, it just causes alot of spam in your mailbox.

Possibly someone with your address on their PC is infected. Happened to me last year because my daughter was too lazy to update her A-V. It was my old PC and I forgot to clear out the address book in Outlook Express.

I am not getting anything on the ID I signed up with on photobucket.

Another Id I have is getting infected spam from some Yahoo id's.
Would be doa without Notron AV deleting the junk before I try to open it.

I find AVG http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php a better virus scanner (and less of a resource hog) than Norton. It is also free and so are the updates.

Another useful AV site is www.trend.com
