Default Video lenses for digital still cameras?

I see some fairly inexpensive wide angle and telephoto video lenses with a 52mm thread that can be adapted to my Canon Powershot A40. Are there any problems with using these video lenses for digital still photos?

Inexpensive lenses will have more distortion (my Canon .7x 55mm has a bad barrel distortion). You should look at quality lenses rather than just price. The best wide angle I've ever seen is the Raynox 6600PRO (even better quality and wider than their 720 lens, but not cheap, $100-$150US).

There is no reason you cannot use video lenses as long as you understand, the quality my be acceptable, but rarlly exceptional. Just like lenses that claim that they are for still cameras, lenses for video also vary in quality. There are some cheap ones out there the you would swear a telephto lens is a fisheye lens. I have seen some that the image is so unclear that they actually look foggy. You get what you pay for.
As far as will they work, video and digital still lenses are pretty much interchangable. They can vary in image quality quuite a bit though.

Also as video is much lower resolution, and 25-30 frames a second (depending on the television system), they don't have to put as much quality into a lens.
