Default Broken .NEF Image

Anyone know how to repair a broken .NEF image? When I try to open it in Nikon Editor it gives me this error:

:!: D:\..... DSCN5832.NEF can not be opened.

The icon in Nikon Browser is complete yet when I preview it in Nikon Viewer, exactly 1/2 the photo shows up.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Dont know how to fix it - but couldn't you download it once more to your HD. This way you can see if it was the tranfer that messed it up or the recording on your D100!

Wish I had a D100 Klaus

Anyway, the broken .NEF was 'moved' from the CF card not copied and I have taken more pics on that same card so trying to do the file transfer again will not be possible.

Thanks for the reply

Default O/T to Klaus

Klaus:

I just skimmed through your web site -- very nice.

BTW, you may already be aware of it, but when viewing the English version of your site, the Sharpness article under the Editing Menu does not translate into English.

I didn't know if you must translate the articles manually, or if you have software that does it automatically.

Best Wishes!

I'm a thicky and don't know what a NEF file is, guess it must be something like a RAW. I NEVER move a file since getting a similar prob on a usb link. I always COPY, check the files open on the destination drive, rename, add the lock attribute and check again. Finally, I delete off the card.

In your case, if you haven't written much back to the card and your wanted pic was towards the end, it might be recoverable, even after an in camera format. VOX
