I absolutely love the reviews Steve offers, and these forums are a great feature - but, is it just me, or is this forum particularly unreliable? Seems to often show jumbled characters and code before it displays the actual page(if it does without a reload), or sometimes just shows blank screens saying it's done. Kind of strange, isn't it?

I don't have this problem at all. The worst problem I get is that I use a web proxy which filters out things like pop-up ads and a few other things. It can interfer with the running of this forum, but it never causes these problems (just some buttons stop working.) I've learned what the problem is and I just disable it if it gets in the way.

What browser are you using? What version? Are you going through AOL? What OS?

When was this? You do know there was a hackattack here a week ago, do you? See http://www.stevesforums.com/phpBB2/v...ic.php?t=13779. I couldn't get in at all (from the UK) for several days when I returned from a week's holiday on 30Sep.

Very good. Vaguely related to topic:
Hamish (in pub on Isle of Skye):"Well Donald, it's June now, and it's been raining since September."
Donald: "And which September was it that you were meaning, Hamish?"

I primarily use IE, latest version. AOL - ew. I'm on XP Pro - I don't know why it happens, maybe only on occassion, but seems to happen quite often. Random pages full of code and jumbled characters, blank pages, sometimes takes many reloads to view a page/message properly. I have a broadband connection and never have this problem with any other forums. It's only a minor irritance though, if it persists, I can deal with it, but again - kind of strange.

Very strange. I use IE 6 with all the patches (thinking of that, there was a new OS security patch today... sigh.) So I'm not sure what it is. I would check my computer adware/spyware. Both ad-aware and SpyBot work well.

Probably paranoia... but some times it's justified.
