Default Factory recondition camera

:?:
How can I recognize a factory recondition camera from Canon?
A friend told me that I should look for two thing: the box and the serial number. If its a white paper box and if the serial number has a small pressure dot in the end the camera is reconditioned. Is it right?
Thank you

I would assume that Canon would label their reconditioned models as such. Most reputable makers label recon/refurb as such.

I know that their refurb printers come in a plain white box. The small label on it also mentions that it is is refurbished too.

Haven't seen a refurb camera though.

I'm sure Cannon would make no attempt to pass refurbished goods off as new, but I suppose there is a risk that unscrupulous dealers may try and pass them off as new :S
