I heard that Canon and Nikon will soon be releasing DSLR's with image stabilization in their bodies, rather than lenses.

Anyone else heard this?

Thanks

Since Canon and Nikon have been doing considerable research into optical IS and been releasing new stabilized lenses at a considerable rate, I think they are unlikely to adopt sensor shift IS for dSLRs.

But since sensor shift IS is cheaper andsimpler than optical IS, they may be considering using it in future P&S digicams.

The new Nikon P80 digicam has sensor based stabilization. I agree with TC, Nikon and Canon have gone to great lengths in touting how effective lens based stabilization is, and gone to great lengths to offer affordable options for consumers. I don't see them flip flopping now or anytime soon.
