I want to buy a Sony A-SLR. The price of this item in different online shops vary so much. Can anyone recommend some believable online shops? Thanks

What model?

Most dealers are going to be getting exactly the same thing (or sometimes more) as buying direct from Sony via http://www.sonystyle.com for them right now (they just dropped the price by $100 on most of the entry level models for a father's day sale).

So, expect to pay about $499.99 for the A200 kit (camera + 18-70mm lens), $599.99 for the A300 kit (camera + 18-70mm lens) or $699.99 for the A350 (body only), or $799 for an A350 + 18-70mm lens.

That's $100 less than they were before the recent sale started.

http://www.sonystyle.com will probably charge you sales tax. So, you may want to buy from someone like amazon.com instead (they have the same prices right now). Circuit City usually has them at the same prices, too (but, they may charge you sales tax).

Another vendor you may want to look at that stocks them is http://www.berger-bros.com

If you are looking for the A700 instead, you may find it for a little less compared to the others. See this recent thread:

It looks like http://www.ritzcamera.com has them at the sale prices on Sony dSLR models right now, too ($100 off for the father's day sale). They don't charge sales tax if you buy online (at least they haven't with me).

bhphotovideo.com for cameras and newegg.com for memory cards is what I have used since 2005.

Yes... I glanced at B&H earlier and thought they were $100 higher on them. But, I was looking at a two lens kit versus single lens kit. My bad.

Upon closer inspection, they have the same lower prices now as some of the other dealers on the Sony Alpha models (for example, $499 for the A200 with an 18-70mm kit lens).

Just as a general rule, regardless of what camera you are interested in, I and people close to me have had great success with the following online vendors. I'm putting them in alphabetical order so as not to indicate any preference. All are honest, legitimate outlets who can beat the prices at most mainstream stores:

Adorama
Amazon.com
B&H Photo
Calumet

There may be others. But I can honestly endorse these. And beware of any outlet - especially on the Internet - that advertises "too good to be true" prices that are markedly below all prices you see for a given product. Hope this helps.
