Default sensor size?

OK, I just read a good article on sensor size in relation to picture clarity. So, is there a place that I can go to that compares sensor sizes for similar models? Or how do we discover the sensor size of various models? thanks, brett w

You'll need to look up each camera's review as I don't think there is a separate table for it. I think you'll find similar models tend to have the same size CCDs.

You could probably even say that similar model cameras have exactly the same sensor in them. That might be harder to find out is if its the same model CCD or not.

I just checked two reviews. Under "CCD" it says:
CoolPix 5700: 2/3-in. high-density CCD; total pixels: 5.24 million
5.0 million effective pixels

Cyber-shot 828: 2/3" 8.0 Megapixel Effective RGB+E CCD, 14-bit DXP (8.3 Megapixel Gross)

Not exactly what you wanted to know. A quick look at the reviews on dpreview show that they do (at least some times) specify the exact sensor dimentions.

Default Steve has a great chart!

On this site you can look under reviews & pick a camera based on the megapixels you want. It then shows you a list of all reviewed cameras along with info on physical size, sensor size, etc.
Here's a link to the chart for 3mp cameras:
