Default Looking for a decent but very small digi-cam

Hi All, I'm looking for a decent digital camera, no more than $200 that is small. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Well the Canon A60 is a good cam with lots of features but costs $229. It could be found for less.

Search for the best 2 megapixel camera available for the money, it will make great 5x7s and even 8x10s if needed.

Be aware you'll need to invest in extra memory card(s), an extra battery or batteries, a charger if it's not included, a case if you need one, and possibly a Reader/Writer to make picture downloads faster and easier. Could be an extra $100 to $150 perhaps. If your cam uses AA batteries, that might be a plus.

I have been looking hard for a $400 camera and am seeing that in the lower price range people like Olympus, Canons, Sony, Fuji, maybe Minolta, Pentax, Kodak. If you search for the best 2Mp cam you can find, you should have more to spend on much needed accessories.

I can recommend the Sony Cyber-U series, if your emphasis is on "small". DSC U-30 is the current production model. If you can find a U-20 cheaper, good deal. Both are nearly identical 2 Mp point-n-shoot's with fixed focal length lens. Major attribute is their extremely small size, ease of use (quick pocket to shot times--great for candid shots) and high quality capture results. Low light performance is nothing to write home about, but no camera in this price and size class is any better in low light situations, IMHO.

If your budget for the entire package is "no more than 200 bucks", don't forget about needing a larger memory card and spare battery(s).

Most cameras ship with a "starter" memory card, so you'll need a larger one to take more photos before the need to download them to your PC.

Also, some cameras come with a rechargeable battery and charger -- others don't. Take these things into consideration where budget is concerned.

One of the best deals around right now in a sub $200.00 camera is a reconditioned Nkon Coolpix 2500. You can buy one directly from Nikon for only $134.99. It's also small and light (it's in the "pocketable category", but it's not as small as the Sony U series. A new one lists for $299, so you be getting one for less than half price by buying a factory reconditioned model.

This would leave you some money left over for a larger memory card, and spare battery.

That Nikon Coolpix 2500 sounds like the best deal around, for anyone wanting a good quality compact camera.

Don't know where you are but I saw the Sony DSC-P32 and Nikon Coolpix 2100 both for 199.99 U.S. at Target today. That's probably their going rate these days but both cams seem to be a pretty good value for the money.
