Default Ultra Compact Cams

Hi. I'm hoping someone can help be in my decision process. Thanks in advance for your posted reply!! I'm looking at the Minilta DiMAGE D500 (AKA the Konica KD-510) vs. the Canon S400. Aside from the obvious 4MP/5MP difference, can anyone help me figure out which way to go? I'd appreciate any guidance....

Yes.

Here is a post I made a while back discussing the cameras. I included quotes and links to comments from dpreview.com forum poster Nyugen, who owns both the Konica KD-510z (a.k.a. Minolta G500), and the Canon S400:

Here is a more recent post from dpreview.com forum poster Adam, who has owned the Canon Powershot S400; Konica Revio KD-400z, KD-500z; and now owns the new Minolta DiMAGE G500 (Konica Revio KD-510z):

BTW, you can see some photos from my Konica KD-510z here (identical to the new Minolta DiMAGE G500:

You'll also see some links to my reviews of the camera on my pbase.com album page.

Jim,
Thanks!! I really appreciate the time you took to point out all of that information for me. It appears my decision is made: the Minolta G500!

Make sure to read my pbase.com guestbook, as well as user reviews.

The "little things" can make a big difference in the camera's performance. For example: the problem this new user had at a ballgame (problem now solved, and this new user is happy, once he realized how to change the settings):

The manual is pretty cryptic, and I've had the camera since July (so I've figured out how to set everyting for the best camera performance and photo quality).
